There are not enough words in the English language for me to express my extreme gratitude to Paul Kuhwald and his staff.  I am a patient of Paul’s with a cornea disease called Keratoconus.  Basically my corneas are “coned” instead of being rounded.  I have SUFFERED for years, decades even, with having to wear hard contact lenses to correct/stop my Keratoconus from getting worse.  The contact lenses were so uncomfortable! They would irritate my eyes and eyelids so badly that I had sores on my lids and then I would have to be on steroid eye drops and not able to wear my lenses for days, sometime weeks. I was constantly taking my lenses in and out to clean and lubricate them only to find out that I was allergic to all the solutions I had been using for all these years.  I literally gave up on wearing contacts!  (I’ve worn contacts since I was 14 years old and I’m 65.)  I have been to many doctors over the years.  I’ve seen a doctor who wanted me to go to England or Greece for a procedure to help my cornea disease!  Once I found Dr. Robert Abel and he sent me to Paul Kuhwald, my life and world changed.  Paul told me HE KNEW he could help me.  He had confidence that he could fit me with lenses that I would be comfortable wearing and I could see out of.  I DIDN’T believe him.  I was very discouraged.  I had given up on wearing contacts lenses and ended up wearing glasses and being uncomfortable, walking around with horrible sight, falling, and feeling ill.  So I decided to trust Paul and give him a chance.  I started in March with these corrective lenses….. but was not happy.  I wanted to give up but Paul assured me that he could help me and to give him a chance.  So I did.  He tweeked this, than that, and finally in September after going back and forth, I was able to see and wear my lovely lenses that are SO COMFORTABLE!  Sometime I forget I have them in!!!  I also buy my Preservative Free contact solutions from Kuhwald Lenses Office too.  My last eye doctor appointment, a few months ago, my eye doctor told me that my cornea disease had not progressed and my corneas looked healthy.  This is because I wear my lovely lenses every day!!!  They’re so delightful to wear and I was able for the first time in about 20 years to hear good news about my crazy eyeballs!  I would have given up on me and my crazy eyeballs, but Paul didn’t.  I’ve been to doctors that would say, “Yeah, you have weird eyes”.  Paul always was confident that he could help me, and he did!  I am truly thankful to God, Paul Kuhwald and Dr. Abel for helping me with my eyes and fitting me with contacts that I can finally see out of and are SO COMFORTABLE!  Thank you Paul and your amazing staff for all you’ve done for me.

Thirty five years ago, my ophthalmologist diagnosed me with keratoconus. Since my condition was severe and needed the best treatment he referred me to Kuhwald Contact Lens Co. (almost a hundred miles from my home). Throughout the years, Paul Kuhwald has watched over my condition with attentiveness and expertise. The knowledge and guidance that he has given me during the progression of my disease, my recent cornea transplant, and all the fittings of my lenses over the years has been considerate and caring. Well worth the long drive.

For the staff, the mailing of lenses, solutions, and drops seem to be a priority (even while visiting grandchildren in Alaska) and the mailings always include a personal note from Paul.

As first time parents, my husband and I had shed many tears, some of joy and some for fear. Our daughter was born with a rare eye condition that required surgery and regular visits to the eye doctor, and corrective lenses for the rest of her life. I have been a long time patient of Kuhwald Contact Lenses, dating back to the 1970's when my first appointment was with Paul's dad Ed. I fell asleep with a pair of hard lenses, scratching my cornea. I received my first pair of contacts from Paul Kuhwald in the 1980's. It was the best decision I made. Not only is my vision perfect, but Paul Kuhwald and his staff have been there for me every step of the way. One time I had a problem with my eye. Paul Kuhwald gave me some drops, advice and called me every other day until my eye was better. If I lose a contact, he has a replacement for me immediately and has a new one ordered right away.
